FOCUS : FOCal plane arrays for Universe Sensing
This LabEx FOCUS (FOCal plane arrays for Universe Sensing) deals with the development of novel high technology matrix arrays of sensors to equip the next generation facilities for Universe Sciences. The Grenoble area hosts some of the main actors of the high-tech domains in Europe that includes research, industry and teaching resources. More specifically at the cutting edge of the detection domain some academic (PTA, CEA-LETI, IRAM) as well as industrial partners (SOFRADIR, ULIS, ST-micro, E2V, Trixel), amount to a unique capability with an access to the most advanced manufacturing facilities. It also hosts academic laboratories involved in the realization of the most challenging instruments of physics and astrophysics. The LabEx is a unique opportunity to take advantage of this potential and build up a multidisciplinary laboratory, which gathers sixty astrophysicists, engineers, technologists, and technicians, which will address, through a sustainable partnership, key challenges of the image detection in astrophysics.
